Lightship Huron

The landlocked Lightship 103, the Huron, as seen from the pier sidewalk, way up river with the zoom lens. It was quite a stroll to get there from the riverside parking area we wound up at.

The view of the Huron as approached from the pier sidewalk, coming up to the entry ramp.

I had to get this shot of the Captain's desk: there was a Meerschaum Calabash pipe, the kind that everyone associates with Shelock Holmes, thanks to Basil Rathbone. I have one just like it.

An original Fresnel lense from the ship. This lens was used on the ship for the last 20 or so years it was in service.

Looking up at the lantern mast.

The Huron in all its glory.

Of course, the Huron gets a hug from me. Note the bulge of the anchor tube, putting the anchor chain on the ship's centerline.
